GRAMMY®–nominated singer/songwriter Kari Jobe achieves the difficult feat of building a live worship experience around a set of all-new material on Majestic. The album takes its title from the historic Dallas theater where it was recorded—but it refers equally well to the sense of glory its music embodies. Jobe delivers performances that are both intimate and emotionally powerful, using the delicacy of her vocals to convey deep spiritual rapture rather than mere surface beauty. From the arena-sized rock dynamics of “Breathe on Us” and “Keeper of My Heart” to the contemplative pop strains of “Look Upon the Lord” and “I Am Not Alone,” she sings with vulnerability and conviction. The album’s songs—cowritten by Jobe with such noted Christian tunesmiths as Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin, and Paul Baloche—draw the crowd into a shared act of praise that’s sustained through the final notes of the closing track, “Let the Heavens Open.” “Forever” stands out for its vivid portrayal of Christ’s passion and resurrection that builds into a ringing cry of faith. Fellow worship pastor Cody Carnes blends voices with Jobe on another key track, the aching “Holy Spirit.”
